About Lisa

Lisa is a conflict resolution specialist and sought-after guest speaker whose work promotes dispute resolution, problem solving, team building, and decision making. In 2007 she earned a Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution from SMU.  Today, as Director of Restorative Communications, Lisa performs mediations, workshops, and Peacekeeping Circles for a variety of clients. (see below for list)  She serves as an adjunct professor at SMU, ACU and El Centro College.  As a Certified Mediator under Sect 154.52(a) of the Texas Civil Practices and Remedies she works with organizations, companies, women’s groups, churches, schools, and families.  Lisa has received the following accreditations:

Birkman International
Lisa is a Certified Birkman Consultant with Advanced Birkman Consultant status.  She wrote and designed the dispute resolution program for The Birkman Method, the leading U.S. personality assessment tool for corporations and organizations.

Defense Initiated Victim Outreach Specialist (DIVO)
Lisa is also a trained Defense Initiated Victim Outreach Specialist who serves as the communication bridge between the defense team and victims’ families in capital murder cases.

Peacemaking Circles

Lisa is an accredited Circlekeeper who has performed thousands of Peacemaking Circles for schools, churches, and organizations for the purpose of dispute resolution, team building, decision making, and leadership development.  She is responsible for creating more Circlekeepers in Texas than in any other state.

Congregational Assessment Response and Transformation Team (CARTT)

As a member of the Congregational Assessment Response and Transformation Team Advisory Board (CART), she assesses church conflict, conducts conflict resolution workshops, performs both interpersonal and church-wide mediations, and coaches pastors through challenging situations for The North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.

In 2010 Lisa was the only mediator hired by British Petroleum after the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill to travel to southern Louisiana to listen to the residents and train BP contractors.  As a result of her efforts, communication techniques and rapport building responses became new methods for BP’s contractors to engage the victims in communities served.

Lisa’s clients include:  British Petroleum, Southern Methodist University, Birkman International, Southwest Conflict Resolution Network, Coppell Independent School District, Garland Independent School District, The Hockaday School, The North Texas Conference for the United Methodist Church, YMCA, North Highlands Women’s Group, Southwest Conflict Resolution Network, The Nelson Children’s Center, Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center, Parenting Alone, and Café Momentum.

Lisa currently resides in Dallas, Texas where she grew up.  She and her husband Jim have two grown children.  Her passions are reading, cooking, and learning.  Her specialty is working with clergy and laity to help them identify patterns that are creating conflict and complications in their lives.  She believes we each have a call to ministry:  The reconciliation of man to himself.
